Another BIG Month?!

Can you believe it’s only four weeks till Christmas??!!

Wow….the year just keeps rolling away.

Over the last month I squeezed in one last October Business Month Mad Hatter’s High Tea in Katherine, which was attended by some lovely local women…whom I hope to cross paths again in the future.

Connie (Naturopathic student) assisted me for the month…gaining knowledge & confidence, plus getting an insight into everyday life as a Naturopath. I thank her & wish her well for her future.

My Certified Organic Herbal Teas are jumping onto…& off the shelves sooo quickly! You can now find them for a cuppa in-store or take home packs at Kings Wholefood Artisan  at CDU Palmerston & Chantilly Kitchen Tearoom in Nightcliff; Bits4Bub store has those specific for mums & bubs, while Harvest Press have a variety ready to go for the those wanting to support everyday health & wellbeing – both at Coolalinga Central. Plus…Cafe Eco in the city have them ready to  go on their shelves for opening day!!

The GK Vitality Ladies Pamper Lunch last weekend was a great opportunity for women to come together with friends….to enjoy a light lunch & glass of wine….whilst experiencing some amazing products on display by some beautiful local business ladies. If you missed out….don’t worry it will be back early next year bigger & better!!

Next week….Friday 1st December, I will be at the Woodroffe Primary Christmas Market from 5:30-8:30pm…..with a special visit from Santa at 7pm!! There will be food trucks, raffles, live music & heaps of Christmas gift ideas….all for a gold coin donation for entry. Love to see you there!!

Anxiety….

Anxiety is something I commonly see in clinic…& it can affect people from from varying levels.

Symptoms of anxiety can be very unsettling. Your heart rate increases, your mind races & you can no longer think straight. Though everyone experiences anxiety a bit differently, there are some more common symptoms to look out for.

Physical sensations:

  •  racing heart;
  • hot flushes, sweating & skin clamminess;
  •  rapid breathing; &/or
  •  frequent gastrointestinal upsets.

Emotional sensations:

  • feelings of excess worry, panic, fear or guilt;
  • obsessive thinking & behaviours; &/or
  •  feeling generally tense and wound up.

Some Lifestyle tips for you to try:

  • Connect with friends – keeping in touch with people maintains your support network;
  •  Exercise (ideally outdoors) – regular exercise has been shown to improve mood & reduce feelings of stress;
  • Choose healthy foods – consume protein at each meal & avoid refined & sugary foods. This can help balance your blood sugar levels, reducing mood imbalances & lessening anxiety;
  • Avoid caffeine – stimulants such as caffeine can exacerbate anxiety; &
  • Breathe! – if you start to feel panicky or anxious, focus on taking some slow, purposeful, deep breaths, helping you return to a state of calm. Meditation can also help to quieten your mind & instill calm. I hope to bring a meditation class to the clinic soon.  🙂

If you can relate to any of the above, give me a call to see how I can help you. I may use Flower Essences, Herbs, nutrients &/or herbal teas. Each of us are individuals….so no two cases are the same.  🙂

New Clients Needed….Katherine??!!

As you all probably know….I’ve been travelling to Katherine once a month for well over 18mths now. I started doing this as I had several locals had tried my certified organic herbal teas at Malak Marketplace & asked if I could come to town to support their health.

I truly love going down there each month to assist this beautiful community….but it needs to be sustainable for me to continue. Yes…I’ve helped many people, hence why they no longer need my help!! From stress, gut concerns, persistent colds/flu’s, hormone balancing, pain relief, children’s health & emotional support. This is an amazing feeling & this is why I do what I do…to see positive results after people taking control of the lives & health again. I definitely plan to be finishing out the year in Katherine…..but will need to see how things go in the New Year.

So if you know anyone who is open to natural therapies in Katherine & who would benefit from herbal & nutritional support or Flower Essences for their health & wellbeing, please pass on my details.

Thank You for Your Support…..Love & Light, Kristy x

Helping Naturopathic Students Gain Confidence & Knowledge.

A couple of months ago I assisted an NT Naturopathic student with some of her clinic practical experience & have loved sharing the knowledge.

Recently I have been contacted from an interstate student who wishes to do some clinic hours with me for quite a few weeks….I’m hoping to again share my knowledge & support this student. You may be lucky enough to have a consult with me in October/November & have this student sit in on your consult or dispense herbal tonics.

Please let me know before your consult if you’d prefer not to have the student sit-in on your consult. Thank you for your support!

Life…

How is it our lives get soo busy….

Catching up with family & friends over the last 2 weeks back in Perth, has allowed me to reflect on how our lives sometimes move forward slowly & at other times…life seems to jump ahead. It seems some people are at that ‘constant stage’ – daily routine, lots of running around for kids, work…with a little bit thrown in for them. Others have something new happening every other month. We all move at different paces…at different stages of our life. Hence…when we compare ourselves to another we can sometimes feel we ‘have been left behind’. Please remember – we really can’t compare…we just are where we ‘are’ at this point in time.

My main focus of my trip was to spend time with my grandparents – my Nan is in a home as she has dementia. Unfortunately she has regressed quickly within a year ago from when I last saw her…though she seems to recognise my voice?! LOL! Norma introduced me to natural health when I was a little girl – we’d make pot pourri, soaps, & ‘smelly’ gifts with her essential oils. On my last visit with my dad & grandpa I took along a small heart shaped pouch filled with her pot pourri she’d made probably 30 years ago. I encouraged her to smell it…hoping her memories would come flooding back to her. I can only hope she sensed the familiarity….

My Grandpa is a lovely old man…yes he’s lost a lot of weight & is frail, but he is still sharp as a tack with a great sense of humour & much to my amazement doesn’t even have a carer looking after him at his own home. My aspiration is to live as long as his active life. Yes he’s on some medications…but who isn’t at nearly 94 years old. He still takes his fish oil, magnesium etc …& a glass of wine at dinner. He’s recently been put on oxygen overnight & when needed – but he’s still very independent, & texts me often. He has nature at his doorstep with birds visiting each day & he loves his beautiful garden.  He says he feels his time is done…now is his time to share stories of his life – with so many tales to tell.

Life…it goes round in circles. Changing from one stage, to the next. Life to me is for living a full & happy life – not just existing day to day.

Yes….we all choose our own paths, now…make the most of each beautiful step you take.
