Strawberries are in stores now & at the markets everywhere, & because they are in season they are fairly cheap. Take advantage of this & throw them in a smoothie, juices, fruit salad, baking, on cereal & make your own ice blocks. Maybe just dip in some good quality dark chocolate & enjoy the decadence!
Strawberries are full of vitamin C & A, high in plant fibre & essential B vitamins as well as betacarotene, folic acid & potassium. Plus they are obviously low in fat & kilo joules. They are jam packed full of antioxidants, so are helpful to fight ageing, & protect against heart disease & strokes. Don’t you love the way they look ‘heart shaped’ too?!
Some people may develop a rash or have itchy skin – this is known as a food intolerance, not an allergy. Allergies occur when we react to protein in food & since there is little in strawberries, the intolerance is to the natural chemical make up of the fruit.
Here’s a great juice to try that’s has natural pain relieving abilities & rich in antioxidants.
1 peach with stone removed
1 pear
1/2 lemon with peel removed
2 punnets of strawberries
Wiz it all up in a blender full of ice – ENJOY!!
