In July, I was incredibly grateful to receive a Wagait Shire and Northern Territory Government Community Grant to host the Wagait Beach Women’s Wellness Day. My vision was simple—to create a welcoming, nurturing space where women could step away from the demands of everyday life, even if only for a short while.

Understanding that every woman’s circumstances are different, the day was designed with flexibility in mind. Women were able to come and go as family, work or other commitments allowed, ensuring everyone had the opportunity to participate in a way that suited them. My hope was that every woman would leave feeling supported and empowered, with practical tools she could easily incorporate into her daily life to improve her health and wellbeing.

It was a privilege to collaborate with two talented local practitioners who helped create such a restorative atmosphere. Helena from The Body Firm offered relaxing remedial massage treatments, while Nadene from The WellBeings Space guided participants through gentle yoga and a deeply calming sound healing session. Together, we created a peaceful environment where women could slow down, reconnect with themselves, and simply breathe.

Throughout the day, I shared practical insights into women’s hormones across every stage of life, helping participants better understand the changes that occur from menstruation through to menopause and beyond. We also explored the concept of food as medicine, enjoying a nourishing smorgasbord while discussing simple, evidence-informed ways to support health through everyday nutrition.

Every attendee took home a thoughtfully curated gift bag filled with resources to continue their wellbeing journey, including organic herbal tea, nutritional supplement samples, a Living Essences Flower Essence cream, a women’s hormone support booklet, healthy recipes and practical wellness tips, along with a beautiful crystal from Irock Crystals.

The feedback from the day was overwhelmingly positive. Women appreciated that the information was relevant regardless of their age or stage of life, and many shared that they felt genuinely cared for and supported throughout the event. Just as importantly, the day provided an opportunity for women to connect with one another, fostering a stronger sense of community and belonging.

With Wagait’s population including many retirees and pensioners, accessible community wellbeing events like these play an important role in supporting both physical and mental health. They provide education, connection and encouragement that can have lasting benefits well beyond a single day.

A heartfelt thank you to the Wagait Shire Council and the Northern Territory Government for investing in the wellbeing of local women through this community grant. Your support made this event possible, and I sincerely hope we can continue bringing these meaningful wellness experiences to the Wagait community in the future.
