Now I love a nice Sangria….but we should look to balance out how much alcohol we’re consuming….especially in this heat & within the party season. Plus it will stop adding unwanted kilos to the waist?!

This is sooo good your peeps won’t even know there’s no alcohol in it!!

Bonus….kids can enjoy it too!!

Ingredients:

  • 1 raw beetroot
  • 3 oranges
  • 2cm turmeric
  • 3C hibiscus tea
  • 3-4 star anise
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 2C cranberry juice
  • sparkling or soda water to top up
  • extra oranges/apple slices to decorate

Sugar Syrup:

  • 1.5Tbsp honey
  • 2Tbsp water
  • 2Tbsp lemon juice & zest

Method:

  1. Juice beetroot, oranges & turmeric (keep the pulp to add to your dogs meals).
  2. Steep hibiscus tea bags (x5 tea bags), cinnamon & star anise in 3C boiling water for 5-8mins. Add juice & cool by adding ice cubes.
  3. Combine honey & water till liquifies, & then add lemon juice & zest. You can heat to mix if needed.
  4. Stir syrup into hibiscus tea/juice mix & blend in a glass jug. Best to leave overnight, or at least an hour to soak in flavours.
  5. Top up with sparkling or soda water & ice. Garnish with extra fruit…personally I leave in the spices, though you can strain of course.  😉

Cheers!!
