Chocolate Cherry Blitz…sounds just perfect for Christmas!!

Looking for  an indulgent choccie snack that won’t break your ‘calorie bank’ this holiday season???

Boosted with greens full of iron, magnesium, potassium, & folate; protein for that added punch of energy…plus cherries aid melatonin production – so better sleep!


  • 1C grated zucchini
  • 2 handfuls of baby spinach
  • 1/2C frozen/pitted cherries (in season or berries)
  • 1/4C raw cacao powder
  • 1Tbls chia seeds
  • 1C milk of choice
  • 1/2C water (or coconut water)
  • pinch or stevia or little honey if needed


  1. Throw all the ingredients into a high-powered blender & blend till smooth.
  2. Add little extra water is prefer thinner smoothie.

A Delish Smoothie to Enjoy!!

Here’s a yummy smoothie packed full of nutrients, antioxidants, good fats & protein that I’m sure you & the kids will love.

Enjoy after work, school or even for breakfast!



  • 400ml coconut/almond milk (or milk of choice or coconut water)
  • banana
  • 1/4C chia seeds
  • 2Tbs Greek natural yoghurt
  • 1Tbs LSA (linseed/sunflower/almond meal)
  • 1/2tsp cinnamon powder (extra for serving)
  • 1/2tsp turmeric powder (extra for serving)
  • dash of honey (optional)


  1. Into blender add milk of choice, along with all other ingredients. Add honey to taste if you wish & blend away.
  2. Pour into chilled glasses & sprinkle with extra cinnamon & turmeric powders. Makes enough for two to enjoy!

Edamame Hummus Dip


I see lots of menopausal women in my clinic….& they often ask…is soy ok for me??? This is a simple answer of YES – as a ‘real’ FOOD, not generally a supplement. It’s all about….BALANCE (my favourite word!!)

Edamame (soybeans) are a phyto-oestrogenic food rich in isoflavones. These are compounds that have a weak oestrogenic effect & bind to oestrogen receptors in the body. Including these as part of a balanced diet may help reduce menopausal symptoms such as hot flushes & vaginal dryness, & may even protect you from breast & ovarian cancers.

Soy beans are full of B-vitamins & are particularly rich in choline – needed for brain function & also maintains the myelin sheath which protects our nerve cells. They are jam packed with amino acids….(the building blocks for protein), iron, calcium & Omega 3 EFA’s making them perfect for vegetarians. Your best choice is to buy organic soybeans when you can so you know they’re not genetically modified….& enjoying in moderation.


  • x1 tin organic chick peas
  • 1/2C shelled organic edamame beans
  • 1C baby spinach
  • Juice 1/2 lemon
  • 2Tbsp olive oil
  • x1 clove garlic
  • 2 heaped Tbsp tahini
  • 1/2tsp cumin
  • handful of parsley…& any other herbs you like!
  • pinch sea salt
  • 1/4C water
  • top with sesame seeds


  1. Place all ingredients except sesame seeds into food processor & blend till smooth.
  2. Add a little more water if necessary.
  3. Top with sesame seeds & enjoy with veggie sticks.

Veggie & Haloumi Fritters

These went down well in our house too…NO MEAT – how did he survive??!!

I served leftovers up for breakie the next day….yum!!


  • 2 large zucchini, grated then excess water squeezed out
  • 200g Haloumi, grated
  • 5 spring onions, chopped
  • Corn kernels, cut of cob
  • 1 carrot, grated
  • 1/2C mint leaves chopped
  • 1C plain flour (or flour of choice)
  • 1 1/2tsp baking powder
  • Salt & Pepper
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 lemon, finely grated & juice

Serve with:

  • 1 punnet cherry tomatoes, quartered
  • Baby lettuce leaves
  • Basil leaves


  1. Put zucchini, haloumi, carrot, corn, mint, spring onions, & lemon rind & juice into a large bowl.
  2. Sift in flour & baking powder. Season with salt & pepper.
  3. Crack in the eggs & stir to combine thoroughly.
  4. Heat oil in frying pan. Use 1/4C of mixture per fritter, mould with your hands. Flatten with spatula.
  5. Cook each fritter 3-4mins each side, or until golden & cooked through.
  6. Serve with tomato & greens – hot or cold!!   😉

Yummy Simple Healthy Doggy Treats!

If you don’t know already….I have completed my studies in Animal Nutrition & have been working alongside Jodie from Vet 2 Pet – a holistic vet who uses acupuncture too!!

She sends me through a prescription for one of her four legged friends, & we discuss the case & then I make up a herbal tonic for them to help heal their ailments.

Well here’s a little something you can try at home for your doggy fur babies, & it will help their doggy breath!  😉

Yoghurt & herb treats  🙂
  • Grab a 500g tub of plain Natural Greek Yoghurt – goat & sheep best (make sure their are NO added sugars or xylitol added – poisonous for dogs).
  • To a mini processor or just use a knife, chop up a handful of parsley & mint.
  • Simply stir through the yoghurt then dispense into  ice trays & freeze.
  • Treat your fur baby when you like!


Zoe loves it & so do I – doggy breath gone!!!

Your four legged friend will love these healthy treats full of probiotics & herbs good for their gut, & consequently their skin too….

Hey, even the kids can eat them if they like!!!  🙂

Tasty Green Dip…in 4mins!

Broccolini, Avocado & Mint Dip

This sounds like a quick & yummy to share with friends on the weekend! Full of magnesium, calcium, good fats & so simple.


  • 1Tbsp Olive oil
  • 1 Red Chilli, thinly sliced (deseeded if you like)
  • 1 bunch broccolini, thinly sliced
  • 1 large ripe avocado, halved
  • 3Tbsp sour cream
  • 1/3C Mint leaves, shredded
  • 1 lime, halved & juice


  1. Gently heat oil in non-stick pan – add chilli & broccolini & saute 3-4mins until broccolini is bright green & tender.
  2. Transfer to plate & set aside to cool.
  3. Mash avocado & add in sour cream & mint – stir to combine.
  4. Swirl through the broccolini mixture.
  5. Add lime juice to taste, season & serve with corn chips or veggie sticks.

Tangy Peach Granita

Most fruits contain ample natural sugars….so there really isn’t any reason to add sugar. A granita is effectively a sorbet – but without the added sugar. Sugar depletes the function of the immune system for up to five hours after consumption – so reducing your intake will give your body an automatic boost. Peaches are rich in vitamin C & beta-carotene & a great source of fibre.


  • 4 ripe peaches, skinned, halved, stoned & sliced (or any fruits you like)
  • 2Tbsp lemon or lime juice
  • 200ml water
  • 3 star anise
  • 1 stick cinnamon
  • Fresh strawberries or raspberries to garnish


  1. Heat the water in the saucepan until almost boiling, then turn off the heat.
  2. Soak the star anise & cinnamon in the water for an hour, then remove & discard the spices.
  3. Blend the peaches in a food processor with 2Tbsp of the water until smooth.
  4. Add lime juice & blend again.
  5. Place in plastic container & freeze until hard (4-5hrs).
  6. Take out of freezer & serve with berries.

Just what the Naturopath ordered in these steamy conditions this long weekend!!!

A Smoothie rich in Anthocyanins…

Plum & Chia Smoothie

The purple pigment in the plums & blueberries are rich in anthocyanins & antioxidants which may help lower cholesterol, cleanse the blood, whilst being rich in vitamin C & beta-carotene.

Boosted with the protein, essential fatty acids & minerals from the chia seeds – this smoothie has it all!

3 plums, pitted & cut into chunks

1/4C coconut water

1/4C blueberries

1tsp chia seeds

1/2tsp cinnamon

Handful ice cubes

Mix all in a blender until smooth & serve immediately.
